Earl Cavis Kerkam

Earl Kerkam was born in the American capital Washington on October 7 in 1891.According to Willem de Kooning,Philip Gaston and Mark Rothko was he one of the finist painters to come out of America.He abandoned a well-paid career as a commercial artist to study painting.He studied at the Rand school,before moving to France to continue his studies.In Paris,he attanted the Academies de la Grand Chaumiere and the Academy Colorossi from 1924 to 1929.He exhibited some of his paintings along with André Derain,a member of Les Fauves.Painter of portraits,women,abstract compositions,nudes in a mystic Fauvist,Expressionist and Cubist style.Earl Kerkam died on January 12 in New York in 1965 aged 73 - Work in Museum:Washington,San Francisco.
