Jean Delville

The artist Jean Delville was born on January 19 in the Belgian city of Leuven in 1867.He began his training at the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts when he was twelve,continuing there until 1889,and winning a number of top prizes.He lived most of his life in Brussel,but also spent some years in Rome,Paris,Glasgow and London.Painter,draughtsman,writer and occultist of portraits,nudes,figures,mythological compositions in the Symbolist,Realist and Art Deco style.He was a teacher at the Academies of Fine Arts of Glasgow and Brussel.Jean Delville died in the Brussels suburb of Vorst in 1953 - Work in Museum:Brussel,Paris Gent,Elsene,Bloomington.
